Spanning the River Tillingbourne, the pub sits within a 17th century timber framed and clad watermill. An earlier mill was mentioned in the Domesday Book as being worth 3s 2d. Originally a flour mill, its restored water wheel forms a central feature of the restaurant. The various dining areas are spread across several levels around waterwheel and it may be viewed as the stream races beneath your feet. A millstone from the 1950s can be seen in the floor of one of these. While the emphasis is on excellent dining the comfortable bar usually serves three or four beers, all but one of which are likely to be from any of about half a dozen local breweries. There is a pleasant garden on the river and a TV for terrestrial sports and board games inside. The inglenook is not used but there is a wood burning stove. There is a monthly quiz and live music twice a month. A duck race is held annually, there is a fireworks after party and a treasure trail is held for kids. The pub is run by New Dawn Pubs who have three pubs in Surrey and Hampshire.
